Admissions Policy

ADMISSION TO RECEPTION CLASS

There is a single admission date, in September, for full time admission to the Reception Class.  Children born between 1 September - 29 February will commence on the first day of term, whilst the younger children will be phased in over a four week period.

AGREED ADMISSION LIMITED

The agreed admission limit to Key Stage 1 Classes
(Reception, Year 1 and 2) is THIRTY.

*The agreed admission limit to Key Stage 2 classes (Years 3, 4, 5 and 6)  is thirty-four.

ENROLMENT

The names of all interested parents will be taken and the following selection criteria will be used.

  • Pupils resident within the school's designated catchment zone, and pupils for whom the Council has accepted that there are medical/psychological reasons for admission to the preferred school.


  • Pupils with elder siblings attending the preferred school.


  • Pupils for whom the Council has accepted that there are exceptional personal/domestic circumstances for admission to the preferred school.


  • Pupils living nearest the school

Gawsworth is a very successful and popular school which draws children from a wide area.
